What We Believe
Cross Ness Church of Scotland is an evangelical Christian Congregation. We are a Bible focused and Bible believing Congregation. All those in the leadership of the Congregation know the transforming and renewing power of God the Holy Spirit in their lives and have a deep desire that others may know God in this way too.
In summary
We believe there is only one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
We believe that God the Father in His love has sent Jesus Christ, His Son, into the world to save us from our sins by dying for us and rising to life again; We believe that He has called us to live by faith in Jesus Christ through the power of His Holy Spirit in our hearts.
Our standards of belief are to be found in the scriptures of the Old and New Testament (the Bible) and in the Westminister Confession of Faith which is the Church of Scotland's historic Confession of Faith.
The Apostles' Creed gives, we believe, a very good brief summary of our faith:
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and Earth
and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead, he ascended into Heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in
the Holy Ghost;
the Holy Catholic Church;
the Communion of Saints;
the Forgiveness of Sins;
the Resurrection of the Body;
and the Life Everlasting.
Amen.
